Teacher Keynote Speaker
About Jo
Jo has been a Geography Teacher for 14 years and Subject Leader for 11 of those. She leads a Humanities team of 10 dedicated teachers. Jo has dabbled in senior leadership, having recently finished two years as a temporary Assistant Principal before deciding that her skills were better placed in the classroom. This role, and other experiences, made her realise the need to take control of her own CPD which led her down the path to become an author and examiner. Outside of the classroom Jo is a mum of twins, Labrador owner and rural resident. Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons? TMGeographyIcons19 is a wonderful opportunity for me to finally meet so many of the Geography Teachers that I’ve ‘magpied’ ideas from for so many years as well as time to share the positivity around our incredible subject. |

Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons19? I’m really excited to be speaking at this year’s #TMGeogicons having attended last year. It’s a really great day and a fantastic way to meet like-minded people, as well as picking up a range of teaching tips for the classroom. |
Tom Highnett

I have sought to develop and improve my practice constantly throughout my career - culminating in the completion of my MA in educational leadership. Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons19? This event represents an amazing opportunity to continue to grow and develop a wonderful community of Geography teachers. I can't wait to share expertise and knowledge with some of our amazing colleagues and am honoured to be able to share my own experiences. I am inspired regularly by the community and having the chance to immerse myself within that was too good to pass up! |
David Williams
@GeogOnOut With 6 years experience in mainstream secondary education working as a TA, Cover Supervisor and a Teacher in Alternative Pathways, I am now in my NQT year teaching Geography. Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons19? Most of what I use, adapt or create has been magpied in one form or another. So a whole day dedicated to stealing ideas for my own teaching and learning development...what’s not to look forward to? |
Luke Hinchliffe
@LukeHinchy Teacher of Geography in a inner city school in Tottenham. Now approaching my 3rd year of teaching. Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons19? Josie Luff
@Geo_Jo26 Currently Geography Teacher but was HOF of Humanities for 10 years, and Cover Teacher for 7 years whilst completing my degree with the OU and bringing up 3 fantastic daughters. Why are you looking forward to TMGeographyIcons19? I attended last year as a relative newbie to Twitter and found it so interesting and great fun. Meeting all my 'virtual' friends and colleagues from around the country and beyond and listing to their experiences meant I had so many more ideas about teaching Geography. When the opportunity arose to add my two-penneth I couldn't resist. |
Ben Ransom
