Alan Parkinson
Head of Geography: King's Ely (Junior), Cambridgeshire.
Former GA Secondary Curriculum Leader Co-founder of the Geography Collective. Ordnance Survey #GetOutside Champion 2018/19. Chartered Geographer and Mission:Explorer In 2008, after 20 years teaching Geography / ICT to 'A' level, Alan joined the Geographical Association as Secondary Curriculum Leader. He's been involved in over 400 CPD sessions in the UK & Europe since, & written the GA's Webwatch for 10 years. Since 2011, Alan has worked as a freelance author & geographer, completing work for Google, BBC, Collins, EDINA, Ordnance Survey, Follow the Things, ESRI UK, British Red Cross, Costa & many others. He has written books for Badger, CUP, Hodder & the GA, & 2 children's books for Collins. Alan is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Chartered Geographer (Teacher), GA Primary Geography Champion & consultant to the GA. In 2013, he received the Tivy Education Medal & Hon. Fellowship from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. Whilst teaching, Alan has received the RGS-IBG OS Award for 'excellence in secondary geography teaching' & 4 writing projects have won GA Silver awards. 'Fieldwork through Enquiry', co-written with John Widdowson won the SAGT Book Award in 2013. 'Pole of Cold', written for a Felicity Aston expedition won an SAGT non-book award. He has received 5 Innovative Geography Teaching awards from the RGS-IBG. As well as that Alan has co-written for OCR GCSE (Hodder), and edited/co-written for AQA 'A' level (CUP). Geography teacher at King Edward VI Camp Hill School For Girls in Birmingham. Active member of the Geographical Association (GA) and currently a member of the Association’s ICT working group. Leads inset and CPD opportunities on GIS. Awarded the RGS Ordnance Survey Award in teaching excellence in Geography in 2011. Recently worked with the Ministry of Education and National Institute of Education in Singapore on developing the use of geospatial technologies in schools.

Fearghal O’Nuallain
Irish Geography Teacher and Explorer teaching at a South London comprehensive. Fearghal was one of first Irish people to circumnavigate the globe by bike. He has walked across Rwanda as part of his MSc thesis in Environment and Development at Trinity College Dublin. He has spent the last three years exploring water in Bolivia, New York State, India and Pakistan. Winner of the 2017 RGS Land Rover Bursary to lead a team across Jordan to create resources to teach about water issues.

Anna's teaching and learning interests are varied but include exploring how strategies for the most able can benefit all learners, effective home study and effective questioning and assessment strategies. As a PCM for both PGCE and School Direct programmes, she is also passionate about the role of schools in effective ITE provision.
